Good Penang Char Koay Teow in Singapore

A good and more authentic Penang Char Koay Teow (Fried Koay Teow) can be found in Singapore at Kopitiam food court at Northpoint, Yishun.

Jumbo Seafood, Singapore

Jumbo Seafood in Singapore is one of the leading seafood chains in this island nation.

I visited the one at East Coast Seafood Center, situated between Changi Airport and Singapore city center.

Its sea breeze is really nice and indeed a good place to have your meal with the right mood.

Went there with my girl friend and ordered an coconut each. It's awesome after a sunny day ..
 Bamboo Clams

Deep fried scallops

 Vegetables

and one of the kingmaker dishes : Chilli Crab (Sri Lankan crab stir-fried in rich savoury chilli gravy)

The whole meal costs around S$130-S150 for 2 persons. The whole experience is long lasting, love it !!

Asam Laksa at Old Town White Coffee, Singapore

Wondering where can get a more authentic Penang asam laksa in Singapore ? One of the convenient place is Old Town White Coffee outlet in Singapore.
It's quite close to the original taste... I would say at least 70% to what I used to try back in Penang.

After a bowl of this unique laksa, the feeling is sipek song, and it makes my weekend more fulfilling ;)

Papparich Mee Goreng (Fried Noodle)

I ordered mee goreng at a Papparich outlet in Petaling Jaya, and it's very close to its authentic Penang taste and texture.
Papparich is doing a very good job in bringing the good authentic food to all M'sian, it's a pride in the F&B sector. Hope that next in the list is Penang Char Koay Teow ..)

Sanwiches at Changi

Bumped into 2 sandwiches outlets at the Changi Airport the other days

The first one is called Quiznos

It's quite similar to Subway but I can feel its intangible uniqueness with my 1st bite

The other one is called O'Briens and one of my favourites

I like the way the sandwiches are being prepared and its chips for sure

Another angle of a good sandwiches

It has outlets in Liverpool and Manchester as well, uniting the fans across the globe ??

Oosters Belgian Brasserie

Went to a Belgian restaurant the other day. The outlet is called Oosters Belgian Brasserie, located at Far East Square, Church Street.

Its warm alfresco dining and drinking area

Ordered one type of Leffe and it's super good and super smooth

It serves many types of mussels with 500g per serving. I chose Moules Pedas - mussels with spicy tomato sauce.

In the menu, there's a message saying "Keep the shell of the first mussel you eat, you should use this shell as a pincher to pluck the rest of the mussels. So please, no knives and forks !"

Accompanied by Belgian frites (chips), mayonnaise and dipping sauces

The dinner gave me lasting experiences, will drop by again with somebody :)

Some dishes at Kirishima, Penang

Went to Kirishima, Penang with a friend, and notice that they have changed their menu since my last visit few years back ..
Snap some shots on some of the dishes ordered.
The rolls are quite ok, its wasabi is really impressive. Those actors or actresses who need real tears should always drop by Kirishima, instant impact guaranteed !!

It also serves one of the best gyoza in Penang

I like its Wagyu beef as well, but far too little for me, just few pieces per serving.

Look, this is my star of the evening, the best at Kirishima, can't recall its name (not shown on receipt) but you can find its photo on the menu.

5 thumbs up from me !!!!!

Completed the meal with this signature dessert : the green tea icecream

Without red beans

With red beans

What a nite at this beautiful restaurant, will come again for its ramen very soon, motivated by a few Japanese sitting nearby with their sloup sloup sloup sounds while eating their ramen ...

Chicken Parmigiana @ Gurney Drive

Chicken Parmigiana layered with cheese and tomato sause, baked in a salamander oven, come together with vege and sweet potato.

It's indeed an enjoyment, this photo tells you all :)

Mussels - Paris vs Kuala Lumpur

I am dedicating this posting to guys who love mussels as I know that there are many guys out there who really like mussels, very much.

These are the mussels available in Paris

A bin to throw the empty shells

These are the mussels found in Kuala Lumpur which look fairer and of different texture

A bin for empty shells as well

Key differences :
1. The outlet in KL doesn't provide a device to take out the meat, need to rely on fingers heavily
2. Mussels in Paris taste better, but need to pay more in, for sure

Ipoh Tauge Chicken (怡保芽菜鸡)

I dropped by Ipoh on my way back from KL, and took a dinper at Restoran Lou Wong Tauge Ayam Kuetiau.

Btw, dinper = dinner + supper (my own creation :)

Just like Brunch = Breakfast + Lunch

This was the order for 3 persons :

and I took 2 bowls of this "Hor Fun"

In comparison, Tauge Chicken Ayam (芽菜鸡) at Restoran Onn Kee besides Lou Wong is far better than Lou Wong.

I tried Onn Kee a few years back and still miss its fatty juicy Tauge (bean sprout) and its tender chicken.

While taking my dinper, I noticed that there is another outlet selling Salted Chicken at the other side of Lou Wong.

It strucked my mind momentarily that Ipoh is really full of chicken and ayam.
